Idris Elba’s very popular and very dark BBC series ‘Luther‘ may have hung up its boots. But the beloved police detective is back in another form – in a full-fledged feature film, also called ‘Luther’.
Media publication ‘Empire’ published the first look pictures of the ‘Luther’ movie, showcasing Idris Elba as Luther. The detective is wearing his trademark Paul Smith coat, as he strides purposefully on a rugged, snow-covered terrain. Needless to say, the film will be even more compelling than the BBC TV series, with Luther taking on another psychologically disturbing serial killer case.
More pictures from the 2023 ‘Luther’ are out in the magazine. One sees him inside a train tunnel, staring off into the distance. The first communication on the movie promises that the Luther movie will have police investigator John Luther move out of the comfort zone of London, into regions beyond – obviously, snowy ones.
Neil Cross returns as the creator of the ‘Luther’ film. The film is set to pick up where the fifth season ended in 2019. Newcomer Cynthia Erivo joins Idris Elba in the film. There’s no confirmation if Ruth Wilson’s Alice Morgan will be a part of the Luther film. She had been shown falling from a height in the final fifth season of the Luther TV series.
