The much-anticipated Tamil action thriller film Ayngaran’s release has just been confirmed for a Direct-to-OTT release on the streaming platform SonyLIV. As per an exclusive update, the film is tentatively scheduled to start streaming on SonyLIV this Independence Day weekend from August 13, 2021, onwards.
‘Ayngaran’ will feature GV Prakash Kumar and Mahima Nambiar in the lead roles. The film has been written and directed by Ravi Arasu. The film went on floors back in the year 2017 and was reportedly cleared by the Censor Board with a clean ‘U’ certificate in the year 2019.
The film is Ravi Arasu’s second directorial project after 2015 action film ‘Eetti’. The film’s music has been composed by musician-turned-actor GV Prakash Kumar, who also stars in the film. ‘Ayngaran’ ostensibly revolves around a skilled mechanical engineer, and it was supposed to release in June 2019, however, the release was eventually delayed.
Recently, some big-ticket films were announced for this Independence Day weekend OTT releases. These include the Siddhartha Malhotra starrer Kargil War based film ‘Shershaah’ that is scheduled to start streaming on the Amazon Prime Video streaming platform on 12th August 2021.
Besides, another high-profile film – Ajay Devgn’s 1971 Indo-Pak War-based movie ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ is also set for Independence Day weekend release on 13th August 2021 on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform.
Moreover, the Telugu language remake of Sriram Raghavan’s cult mystery film ‘Andhadhun’ namely ‘Maestro’ is reportedly set to release on 13th August 2021 on Disney+ Hotstar. And Karthick Naren’s much-awaited ‘Naragasooran’ is also expected to release on SonyLIV on 13th August 2021.
