Indian Film Gets Rare Rotten Tomatoes Score Post HBO Max Release

An Indian film was recently nominated at the Academy Awards for the ‘Best Documentary Film’ category. We’re talking about ‘All That Breathes’, which has won several accolades across the globe. Earlier this month, Shaunak Sen’s documentary film started streaming in the US on the HBO Max OTT platform.

And as of now, the widely acclaimed Indian title has registered a highly impressive critics score of 99% and is ‘Certified Fresh’ on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes (RT). For an Indian film or series, it’s an almost unheard-of RT score.

For instance, even S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’, which has received tremendous international attention, currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes score of a still impressive 95%, but it’s slightly behind ‘All That Breathes’ in this regard.

‘All That Breathes’ first made India proud after its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January 2022 where it bagged the Grand Jury prize. A few months later in May, it won another honour at the esteemed Cannes film festival where the film won the Golden Eye Award.

Set against the backdrop of Delhi, the documentary film ‘All That Breathes’ revolves around two brothers namely Saud and Nadeem whose childhood entailed watching the birds of prey, also known as the black kite, in the sky. Shaunak Sen’s film narrates how the two brothers have dedicated their lives to protect these birds which are now falling from the polluted skies.

But as far as the streaming date of ‘All That Breathes’ on Indian OTT is concerned, the film’s director Shaunak Sen has previously hinted that the film will release on an Indian OTT platform in March this year. Its exact release date and OTT platform has not been officially confirmed yet. Chances are that it might soon be released on Disney+ Hotstar. Stay tuned until then!
