The Minstry of Information and Broadcasting have decided to start our 73rd Independence Day Celebrations, a week earlier. The I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar, has announced in a video message, that starting today, 7th August 2020, we are going to have our first online patriotic film festival, which will go on till 21st of this month.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the resultant lockdown and the hard work done by the health and police services, the Central Government have decided to feature some of the finest films made, depicting patriotism for our country, online. It will showcase movies featuring our brave freedom fighters who fought and died for our country and hopefully will create a festive yet patriotic mood among Indians around the world.
Regional patriotic movies from various Indian languages such as Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Gujarati as well as Hindi and English will be available for viewing. The films will be taken from the collections of NFDC, National Film Archive, Children’s Film Society and the Film Divison.
Critically acclaimed films such as Richard Attenborough’s “Gandhi”, Shyam Benegal’s “Making of a Mahatma”, Mani Ratnam’s “Roja” and Rajkumar Snathoshi’s “Legends of Bhagat Singh” are also expected to feature during this festival. A special edition of the Academy Award winner “Gandhi” will be available for surveying for the blind and deaf members of our country.
