Inside Anushka Sharma’s ₹400 Crore Deal With Netflix, Prime Video

India’s fast-growing OTT space is hot property for streaming giants. Every streamer in India worth its salt wants a piece of a proven content creator. Anushka Sharma‘s Clean Slate Filmz, which she runs with her brother Karnesh Ssharma, is one such proven production house. Not just that, Clean Slate Filmz has a mutually beneficial relationship with both of the rival streaming giants in India, Netflix and Prime Video. Its OTT creations, Netflix’s Bulbbul and Prime Video’s Paatal Lok have left a mark in the world of streaming.

Both Netflix and Prime Video are keen to further their relationship with Clean Slate Filmz. As per a Bloomberg report, Anushka and Karnesh Sharma have signed a deal worth Rs 4 Billion ($54 Million) with the two platforms. As per the deal, Clean Slate Filmz will deliver 8 shows and movies between the two streamers in the next 18 months.

Netflix already has three titles from Clean Slate Filmz lined up to release soon. A crime drama called ‘Maai’ (Sakshi Tanwar), a film, ‘Qala’ (Babil Khan’s film debut), and Anushka Sharma headlined Jhulan Goswami biopic film, ‘Chakda Xpress’. It is not clear whether these three titles are part of the aforementioned deal. Prime Video is keeping its titles from Clean Slate Filmz a secret from the media.
