The numbers for Inside Out 2 are practically mind-boggling, and to tell the truth, even the second week’s numbers for the film can make you go nuts. All is good in the industry; the trend of animation is rising, Pixar got its comeback film, and the industry got a summertime hit.
During its first week, the film was supposed to open with $140M, which would have been a bombastic opening, but it actually opened with $300M. This week, Inside Out 2 grossed $100M in the domestic market.
Also, the record of Dune 2 has been broken. Inside Out 2 has just become the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2024. Animation is starting to rule.
Bad Boys 4 is in second place. The first summer hit film of the year grossed $18M this weekend, with overall domestic numbers reaching $146.9M, which is indeed impressive, especially since it debuted during a dry spell.
The Bikeriders also had a solid debut. After such hustle, the film debuted with $10M, making it the best debut of the weekend. Despite Disney dropping the film and a year-long delay, The Bikeriders might make Disney regret it.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is still stomping on the box-office battleground. Grossing $3.6M, it occupies fourth place, just beating Garfield, which neared the $3.6M mark. IF occupies sixth place; its $2.8M this weekend signals that it is almost dying down.
The best of the rest are:
– The Exorcism $2.4M
– Thelma $2.2M
– The Watchers $1.9M/$17.7M
– Ghost: Rite Here Rite Now $1.5M/$2.6M
Overall, the domestic box-office was worth $147M for the top 10 places. Despicable Me 4 is coming next week for the US audience, so Inside Out 2 might gain some more bucks down the line.
