India as a country is perhaps as diverse as it gets. Not only is this land a mixing pot of cultures, but it is also a vibrant moodboard of those cultures. Which is to say, it only makes sense that the choices of the people of the country are diverse and varied. And these choices are not just limited to within the country, but outside it, as well.
Case in point: Hollywood and other international films are appreciated just as much throughout the country, as they are in any other part of the world. That is, until recently.
With titles like ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, and more, either being a complete letdown, or disappointing audiences nevertheless, Hollywood films haven’t quite been performing well.
The same is evident from the lukewarm buzz that movies like ‘Gladiator II’, ‘Wicked’, ‘Moana 2’, ‘Small Things Like These’, and more have garnered in India, while on the other hand, they are widely awaited overseas. The popularity of ‘Gladiator II’, however, might just gain some momentum, considering the positive acclaim it is garnering.
However, with the overall lack of Indian titles debuting theatrically, at least for the remainder of November, the chances that these titles draw viewers, increases, albeit only by a smidge!
