Today is legendary filmmaker Guru Dutt’s birth anniversary. Which is why maverick filmmaker R Balki has chosen this day to launch the first teaser for his upcoming film ‘Chup: Revenge Of The Artist‘. The film is an ode to the sensitive artist, and as per R Balki, Guru Dutt is first on his list of sensitive filmmakers.
R Balki‘s Chup marks the return of Sunny Deol to Bollywood after a long, self-imposed hiatus. Starring alongside Sunny Deol are Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwantary and Pooja Bhatt. The teaser for ‘Chup: Revenge Of The Artist’ gives glimpses of the primary protagonists of the film.
The Chup: Revenge Of The Artist teaser opens with Dulquer Salmaan’s character creating handmade paper flowers, which he presents to the female lead, Shreya Dhanwantary, only to be dismissed for gifting ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’ to her. The Guru Dutt connection is well and truly established at this point. After a split second glimpse of an angsty, simmering Sunny Deol, the teaser fades of to Guru Dutt’s classic number, ‘Waqt Ne Kiya, Kya Haseen Sitam’.
Chup: Revenge Of The Artist is said to be a psychological thriller. It is written and directed by R Balki. Raja Sen and Rishi Virmani are co-writers of Chup. Amit Trivedi has composed the music for the film.
