India’s biggest sporting event ‘The Indian Premier League’ returns, albeit a little later than normal, in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.). Matches can be viewed live on Disney+Hotstar VIP or Disney+Hotstar Premium, with afternoon matches being played at 3:30 pm IST while evening matches being played at 7:30 pm IST. This will be U.A.E.’s second time hosting this prestigious event (first time hosting the entire event).
This year, all matches will be played behind closed doors as a safety measure against the ongoing pandemic. This will also be a quieter affair with no opening ceremony, nor will there be fireworks or cheerleaders during matches. The games will be played in three different stadiums, in three different Emirates – Sharjah (12 matches), Dubai (20) and the capital Abu Dhabi (24).
The teams participating this year will be keeping an eye out for Mumbai Indians who are the returning champions. Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals were 2nd and 3rd place respectively in last year’s tournament and they will be looking to close the gap this year and win the trophy. Mumbai Indians will be trying to get their 5th IPL trophy, which will make them the first team to do so. Here is the entire league schedule:
