After the phenomenal success of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, the curiosity quotient around the forthcoming Marvel projects under the ambit of MCU Phase-4 has reached a new crescendo. These include films such as ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, ‘Thor: Love ad Thunder’, and ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, and shows like ‘Moon Knight’, ‘She-Hulk’, ‘Ms.Marvel’, ‘Armor Wars’, and ‘Ironheart’, amongst others.
Regarding the ‘Ironheart’ series, it’s a well-known fact by now that the ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ actress Dominique Thorne will star in the titular role of Ironheart / Riri Williams in the show. While nothing much is known about the show’s precise plot details, a rumor is doing the rounds (via Illuminerdi) that the ‘Ironheart’ series might feature the son or daughter of the first ‘Ironman’ film’s main antagonist Obadiah Stane, which was played by Jeff Bridges.
It is being speculated that the aforementioned character might be a version of Ezekiel “Zeke” Stane, who was portrayed in the comic books as an inventor with a genius-level intellect whose life is intentionally off the grid. His mission to avenge the death of his father Obadiah Stane made him Ironman’s enemy. Ezekiel Stane’s character in the ‘Ironheart’ series might be an older version with a comedic element.
It was eight years after the immense popularity of MCU Phase 1’s first film ‘Ironman’ (2008) that the character of Riri Williams was created for the ‘Invincible Iron Man’ comic book. The character was shown to be a fifteen-year-old MIT whiz kid who is able to reverse engineer Ironman’s armored suit to create her own version of the suit. She later assumes the name of ‘Ironheart’ to become a superhero.
Dominique Thorne will purportedly make her debut as Riri Williams/Ironheart first in the ‘Black Panther’ sequel followed by her solo ‘Ironheart’ series that is expected to come out sometime in 2023 on the Disney+ OTT platform.
