Now, the hype is definitely unreal, and as the show begins its marathon run, it will undoubtedly attract more viewership down the line. Plus, being tagged as a show from the creators of Game Of Thrones, this will definitely help 3 Body Problem reach the pinnacle of excitement.
But if you’re one of those users who loves to keep track of numbers and statistics, you might feel that the performance is underwhelming. But, is that the entire truth?
Actually, there’s more to it.
You see, 3 Body Problem was released on March 21st, and if you’re familiar with Netflix’s top 10 list, they provide data from one Monday to the Sunday of the same week. So, we did a bit of calculation and found that for the global audience, the show was available for only 3-4 days in total.
And in that period, until the 24th, the show gathered a viewership of 11 million, which is definitely a big number for just three days. And to convert it into watch hours parameters, it stands at 81.4 million.
Now, let’s play a comparison game.
1899 also had a similar run of 3-4 days in its opening week and had viewership of 79.3 million watch hours. But the week after that, it boosted to 88 million hours, despite facing tough competition from The Crown and Wednesday, something no show wants to do.
The Witcher Season 1 also opened with some weak stats; from December 6th to the 12th, it had just 14 million watch hours, but then it followed with some strong numbers.
So, if you’re worried that 3 Body Problem might face the same fate as 1899, the chances are definitely there. Netflix has heavily invested in the show, and if they don’t get the desired results, it’s surely tough times ahead for the fans. But Netflix will surely not treat the makers of GOT similarly to their treatment of Dark; it would just be foolish to let go of these people as the creators of such shows that keep you sleepless.
3 Body Problem is currently streaming on Netflix and has a rating of 7.8 on IMDb and 78% on Rotten Tomatoes.
