Is Bad Newz’s Collection Concerning For Makers?

On paper, Bad Newz had the potential to be a big hit, at least according to the social media hype. A nine-figure domestic opening was expected on Friday, but it was a bit shy of that number. Bad Newz opened with ₹8.62 crore, which, although a good number, is somewhat underwhelming.

Saturday and Sunday might give it a necessary boost, yet the concern is real.

The major concern is the percentage of the audience turning up at the theaters. Among all the audience who chose to watch a Hindi movie, only 22.83% chose to watch Bad Newz.

Talking about its competitors, Kalki 2898 AD is the one running wild, but that too is a dumb movie. On the other hand, Sarfira and Kill might dent the collection, but they aren’t at their peak right now.

Why is that?

If we talked about the 2018-2019 market, the film would have easily done double this, but the OTT experience is ruining it. Though the film is quite progressive in terms of theatrical experience, the audience already has this experience with OTT films anyways. And for that reason, it is harder to make the audience go “wow.”
