A new official teaser has been announced by Netflix on their YouTube channel. The Indonesian action crime thriller named ‘The Shadow Strays’ is all about martial arts and stunt sequences. The flick is all set to release on October 17 of this year.
The movie is written and directed by Timo Tjahjanto who has given feats like ‘Headshot’ (2016) and ‘The Night Comes for Us’ (2018) as well as produced by Anne P. Ralie and Wicky V. Olindo for Frontier Pictures.
The Shadow Strays follows the story of Codename 13, a young assassin who finds herself suspended after a mission gone wrong. During her downtime, she bonds with Monji, a boy who recently lost his mother to a crime syndicate. This leads to a situation where she goes against her mentor and the organization that hires her.
The flick features actor Aurora Ribero as the main lead along with actors Hana Malasan and Kristo Immanuel in pivotal roles and actors Hana Malasan, Andri Mashadi, Ali Fikry, Adipati Dolken, Agra Piliang, Arswendy Bening Swara, Chew Kin Wah, and Taskya Namya in supporting roles respectively.
The movie is expected to showcase gore, murky and raw circumstances with giving prevalence in its stunt sequences which gives not a little inspiration of the John Wick series. Recent Indonesian movies are just or above marginal from a critical point of view, but their official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival adds flavour.
The performance of Ribero is eagerly awaited in her conveying of emotion for action and letting the flick be another but a stand-out in female-centric content.
