Is Disney’s Focus On ESPN+ A Bad Decision?

Disney is going through a bad phase right now thanks to the whimsical decisions. The subscriber count has no growth sadly it is rather reducing. There are no good originals. Disney+ had released a space sci-fi movie ‘Krater’ a few months ago. But the platform itself removed it from there, owing to criticism and bad quality. Disney’s parks business too is not going pretty well. And the company is right now over saturated with Marvel contents that are not par quality by any means.

In this situation, Disney decides to take more focus on ESPN+, Disney’s branch sports streaming and the platform provides a hope for the company’s comeback. ESPN is a leading sports television channel but making it the leading face of streaming can prove to be risky for Disney. While people are willing to pay for ESPN as a television plan, they may not be willing to pay a huge sum as a standalone streaming service.

Statistics show that while sports is something that interests a lot of people, they will not pay 90 dollars for the subscription of ESPN+. Bob Iger, who is leading Disney, is looking for partnerships for ESPN+ as well.
