Heeramandi will always remain a landmark in the Indian OTT. The series did the impossible by bringing the great Sanjay Leela Bhansali to direct a long series with a huge starcast.
Even in terms of reception, the show is downright phenomenal. The audience showered love over the show as they not only watched it in big numbers but got connected with the show too.
You must have seen an insane number of reels on Aditi Rao Hyderi’s “Gaj Gamini” walk. They became so popular that people labelled Instagram as “Bibbojan ka Kotha” (Bibbojaan’s Court).
To sum it up, Heeramandi is exactly something Netflix would want again and again. We do realize that the series had many flaws and the writing could have been far superior. Most importantly, they should not have cast Sharmin Segal as she was downright bad in the important role. Still, it was a huge commercial success to the extent that it became a pop sensation.
So, wouldn’t Netflix want it again?
Well, absolutely.
If a limited series like Shōgun could get two more seasons after a commercial success then Heeramandi was never announced as a limited series. Moreover, there is no such concept of mini-series in India till now.
So, Netflix India posted a video on social media boasting about the love they received from the audience. Also, they announced “More Surprises”.
Important is to note the fact that they are not about Surprise but “Surprises”.
Can we expect spin-offs and more seasons?
Umm, we can keep guessing. But Netflix has left us crazily excited. Let’s hope that they clear the air soon.
A big thank you to all the fans who made Heeramandi the talk of the town and the internet! ❤️💛
