The thing which gave an unprecedented boom to JioCinema is IPL. No doubt that the game is insanely popular in India and it became the biggest factor behind the rise of JioCinema. Exactly the way it became the factor for the rise of Disney+Hotstar.
But now IPL is over and JioCinema being free doesn’t bind users to keep hooked to the app. So this adds a little disadvantage over the massive benefit of a great subscriber count.
Anyways, JioCinema is very aggressive with their slate. Today, they have released Asur Season 2. Tomorrow, they are coming up with Vijay Sethupathi’s Mumbaikar. Then another series UP 65 on June 8th.
The biggie in the form of Bloody Daddy on the 9th of June.
In the 10 days only, we have a minimum of 4 big releases. No other OTT platform is near JioCinema at least for the month of June.
It will be interesting to see how other platforms cope with this issue as it persists nonetheless.
With absolutely no charge for Indian content, people would love to watch films and series on JioCinema itself.
Platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and more must see what they can offer meanwhile. Because JioCinema might habituate users with overwhelming content.
