Karan Johar has recently released a brand new teaser of his upcoming talent reality show, Hunarbaaz Desh Ki Shaan, on Twitter. It stars Johar with Parineeti Chopra and Mithun Chakraborty. There is no doubt in admitting that this judging panel is a strange mix of celebrities. But fans of India’s Got Talent have found various similarities between Hunarbaaz and IGT. Is the former a cheap copy of IGT? Let’s find out!
We all know that India’s Got Talent has a new telecast partner in the form of Sony Entertainment Television now. The upcoming ninth season of IGT will drop on January 15 next year on the same tv channel. It seems like Sony India has gold in both hands these days. The network is already prominent for its instalments like The Kapil Sharma Show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, Mere Sai, India’s Best Dancer 2, and many more. These hit shows are responsible for bringing immense viewership to Sony TV.
On the other hand, Colors TV is struggling hard these days. The channel has suffered heavy losses in viewership in the last 2-3 years. The lack of fresh content and reliability on daily soaps are some of the biggest reasons for its underperformance. Now, the Colors executives are trying everything to attract more audience.
IGT is one of the most successful TV reality shows in India. All of its previous seasons were a crucial factor in Colors’ success. They attracted a large number of viewers, resulting in high viewership. Also, Karan Johar served as the producer and the director of Season 8. The filmmaker has stayed with Colors and developed Hunarbaaz as a counter-move for Sony’s IGT.
Fans have noticed many similarities between Hunarbaaz and IGT. Both shows have the same premise. Judges will select the best performers consisting of different talents in both shows. Top contestants will move forward according to the public vote. We can witness a few teeny-tiny changes in the formats of both shows. But there is no denying that Hunarbaaz looks like a copy of IGT. Will the former bring back high tv ratings for Colors? Only time will tell us.
