Is Netflix Producing Excessive Animations?

Down the line, Netflix has mastered the craft of animation. Though it used to be the domain of Pixar or Disney, Netflix has added its own spice and created something special. Just stream BoJack Horseman or Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, you will get the essence.

However, humans have a major fault: if they are good at something, they tend to overdo it.

So here is a question: is Netflix overusing animation content?

During yesterday’s announcements, Netflix revealed their new animation ventures, two of the main ones being a Minecraft animation series and The Undervale, a series developed by the team of Rick and Morty.

In terms of hype, both have big success written all over them. Everyone in the West is a big fan of Minecraft, and we can’t say enough about the popularity of Rick and Morty. But here, the creators might be missing the point. Netflix already has too much on their plate.

Just for starters, there are shows like Mulligan, Captain Fall, Q-Force, Love, Death & Robots, and Arcane ruling Netflix’s animation slate. Now, although the quality is there, the sheer quantity of content can scare the audience away.

Users are getting too many options, and just to escape the content-choosing cycle, they might pick something basic and random, and not stick to it. As Netflix keeps adding more animation content, it could become a problem for fans and divide the views among the shows.

Live action has a bigger fanbase, and there is definitely room for more shows. However, in animation, any show takes time to grow, and if Netflix becomes impatient, they will definitely have some fruitless titles.
