Netflix has hit the jackpot for Spanish shows with superhit series like Money Heist and Élite. Both the show have an incredible amount of Spanish viewers and also have attracted fans from all over the world. Both have become a global phenomenon now. As tradition of remakes goes, there has been confirmed news about the Korean remake of Money Heist in the bag for Netflix, now buzz is that Élite is going to have its very own Indian remake.
Apparently Netflix officials have given the green flag for the Indian remake and the show will be helmed by Sukesh Motwani under his banner Bodhi Tree Multimedia, which has over the years been a renowned name in the TV and entertainment industry. The production house earlier has been part of projects that were released digitally but this will be a big step for them as teaming up with Netflix in itself is one of the biggest achievements today.
Keeping in mind the atmosphere of the country and sensitivity of people in and around certain topics, the story and screenplay has been tweaked in different areas but also keeping the essence, mystery and thrill of the show intact. The cast apparently has already been recruited and are shooting for the same. The show will mostly consist of new faces, but Ayesha Kanga’s name has been popping up stating that she will play the role of “Marina” for the Indian version. She has earlier been part of a few Disney shows and has one more thriller lined up starring Parteik Babbar.
It would be interesting to see how the Indian version comes out, if it is really happening. Since the Spanish Élite will soon be coming out with it’s 4th season, the fans have already known and seen which characters do what. Keeping that in mind, the Indian team definitely has a difficult task to match up with the standards set by the original.
Over the past few years, India has been producing young school and college related stuff more and most of them have become hits among the viewers. Bringing something with the story and background of “Élite”, it is very easy to overdo or even underdo it. But with Netflix on board and a production house that has been in business for a great amount of time, the fans will definitely look forward to it.
As of now, even though there has been quite a bit of information out there, Netflix hasn’t confirmed anything about the remake or the show in general. Looks like Netflix might do the announcement in their own time.
