In a recent interview regarding the release of his new film ‘Bawaal’, filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari has said that his project on the epic Ramayana will not disappoint and hurt the audiences.
Nitesh Tiwari is one of the most trusted filmmakers of the country and he has given us great films like ‘Chillar Party’, ‘Dangal’ and ‘chhichhore’. Ramayana is a highly ambitious project and it is associated with the sentiments of the public, and it is very difficult to pull off a film on the subject. After the standards set by Ramanand Sagar and B.R Chopra, audiences expect a certain kind of execution in the epic films and the recent Adipurush has not been able to satisfy the audiences by not following those standards.
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayama will have Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt as Rama and Sita. In spite of the couple being very much hyped, we will have to wait to know if the audience accepts them as their gods. The director says, “My question is very simple. I am also a consumer of the content that I create and if I’m not going to offend myself then I’m very confident that I might not end up offending anybody else.”
Public sentiments are very volatile and anything can offend people nowadays. Adipurush is a bad film and it is obvious that we should not celebrate such abominations. It is good for Nitesh Tiwari to be confident in his craft, but he should not compromise with his creative faculties for the sake of ‘not offending’.
