Good old “Monkey Man” is having some troubles, and it isn’t just limited to the myths but in the real world as well. And this time, it’s not Ravana but the Censor Board which made life tougher for the Indian hero. The film, despite having a strong connection to Indian roots, failed to get a release in the Indian market.
Surprisingly, the USA market showcased a positive response to the film and actually celebrated Indian culture. And now they are treated with the VOD release of the film on platforms such as Prime Video, Apple TV, and Google.
And here comes the question, should it get a theatrical run in India?
See, there is no solid news regarding the Indian release, but rumors are floating around, stating that “Monkey Man” soon can get an Indian release. But that isn’t the most viable option.
It is already getting a VOD release today, and for the Indian release, it is practically too late. As soon as the VOD release happens, the fans will definitely resort to unfair means, especially as there is no update for any OTT or theatrical release in India.
Even if it gets released in a couple of weeks, a good number of fans would have watched it already. And after the bad numbers, the studios will again discriminate against the Indian audience.
