He is not a trained doctor but educated himself by reading all sorts of books related to sexual health.
Of course, there are a lot of “Desi” references with things only Indians can relate to. The character of a typical father who reigns the sex life of his son is one such example.
Regardless, is it really India’s answer to Sex Education?
There isn’t any clear conclusion to this question. No doubt that the superhit Netflix series is a global sensation and one of the most popular series in the world, but there is a fundamental difference.
We realize that the name of the Netflix series is Sex Education but those who have watched the show are very clear that the show doesn’t justify its title completely. It mostly revolves around the high school life of a dozen young adults. Of course, sex is a big part of their growing up and there is significant attention to that, but the show does not deserve to be called Sex Education per se. But it snatches a great deal of attention from the audience nonetheless.
Talking about Dr. Arora then it actually justifies being called Sex Education. Every episode teaches something about the overall sexual health and it is the primary subject of the series.
So yes, Dr. Arora is India’s Sex Education through a series but it is not similar to Netflix’s Sex Education. .
