It seems the drought of box office successes in the Bengali film industry is over now. And there are three commercials that are running successfully in theaters. And ‘Tekka’ has astounded people with its opening collections.
‘Tekka’ is being marketed as the biggest organic blockbuster in Bengali now and very rightly so. The shows are running houseful and what is more surprising is the movie is working alike in rural and urban areas. Dev, has regained his form as a superstar of the whole of Bengal and Srijit Mukherjee has wedded content with commerce perfectly in ‘Tekka’.
The movie is a hostage thriller and Dev apparently plays the antagonist. While Dev’s character kidnaps a school girl to make a corporate company succumb to his demands, the girl’s mother kidnaps Dev’s own child, making things go in a different direction altogether.
The concept, performances and direction everything seems to be different and causing appeal for audiences. And what is more interesting is Dev is abusing in big screens for the very first time, and it is something people will probably never see again in theaters.
The Bengali movies are having a free run in theaters and there is not much competition from other industries. Let us see how long Tekka can keep on making money while there are other Bengali movies working well out there.
