Colin Farrell’s Penguin has been a fan favorite ever since his first appearance in ‘The Batman’. Farrell is unidentifiable when he has the makeup on. The personality, potbelly, and posture of the penguin feel perfect. Which explains that the prosthesis and the psyche of the character will leave a mark on the one who plays it.
Farrell understandably has dropped the towel. In a recent interview for LeFranc’s The Penguin series, the actor came out about his experience. Farrell says, “I don’t know, man. Don’t get me wrong—I loved it—but it got in on me a little bit.” Collin talks about the agonising experience of working on such an iconic character. That too something so different from Farrell himself.
The actor added, “I was bitching and groaning to anyone who would listen to me that I wanted it to be finished.” Aside from Colin’s refusal to don the character again, we know for a fact that the penguin will appear in The Batman Part II. Which leads us into the realm of speculations. If Farrell actually doesn’t play the character again, can we see the end of Oswald Cobblepot in the Matt Reeves Universe?
This could mean a number of things. The possibility of a second season, the presence and role of Penguin in the future instalments, and even the possibility of a recast. However, what we can be sure about is that the first episode of The Penguin will be available to stream on MAX on September 19, 2024.
