The official teaser for It: Welcome to Derry is now floating, thanks to HBO Max. This forthcoming series serves as a prequel to the blockbuster It movies, which themselves are adapted from Stephen King’s masterpiece about a cursed small town—Derry, Maine—where a shapeshifting killer clown returns every 27 years to prey on children.
Andy Muschietti, director of It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019), serves as a co-showrunner alongside Barbara Muschietti, Jason Fuchs, and Brad Caleb Kane. Muschietti has also directed four of the nine episodes in the prequel series.
The show features Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, Jovan Adepo, Madeleine Stowe, Stephen Rider, and Rudy Mancuso, with Bill Skarsgård returning as Pennywise. The plot is set in the early 1960s, exploring the period before Pennywise’s hibernation and his re-emergence in the 1980s, when he encounters the Losers Club.
Aside from Bill Skarsgård, the series features an entirely new cast, different from the It films. Additional cast members include Alixandra Fuchs, Kimberly Norris Guerrero, Tyner Rushing, Dorian Grey, Thomas Mitchell, Peter Outerbridge, Dean Yool, BJ Harrison, and more.
The new teaser reveals that It: Welcome to Derry will premiere on HBO Max this fall. Indian viewers can expect to watch the series on JioHotstar upon its release. Stay tuned for more updates.
