It’s Official! Squid Game Season 2 Is Coming

It’s been hardly a week since Netflix officially announced a second season for hit Korean zombie thriller ‘All of Us are Dead’ and here we have the most exciting news ever! The trailblazer Korean show for Netflix, Squid Game is finally renewed for a second season officially. The first season released last year and quickly went on to become the most popular Netflix series ever in hardly 12 days.

The cast and crew not only became a sensation over night but also went on to win so many international awards. On Sunday, Squid Game’s writer, director, executive producer, and creator Hwang Dong-hyuk posted a note sharing this happy news with the fans.

Besides an announcement video, the note by creator Hwang Dong-hyuk reads that Gi-hun and The Front Man are confirmed to return. He also mentioned that The man in the suit with ddakji might be back besides several new characters including Young-hee’s boyfriend Cheoul-su.

Squid Game is a survival thriller that narrates the story of dept-ridden individuals competing in a Hunger games like competition to win a huge sum of money. The winner takes the money, but the losers can’t escape death. The show is regarded as one of the most staunch critiques of capitalism to have come out from South Korea. Besides being the most watched Netflix series worldwide at one point, Squid Game is also the most watched non-English show for Netflix now. The first season featured Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-Soo, Wi Ha-joon, HoYeon-jung etc with Gong Yoo and Lee Byung-hun in cameo roles.

With Alice in Borderland and All of Us are Dead making returns already, We are absolutely thrilled about season 2 of Squid Game. We can’t wait for the number of twists and turns the story is going to take.
