Veteran J.K. Simmons has confirmed that he will portray “a slightly different” version of J. Jonah Jameson in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home. Jameson is the prominent editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle in the Spider-Man universe.
Simmons’ first movie appearance was in The Ref (1994). Then he played some supporting characters for approximately eight long years until he got a chance in Sam Raimi’s first Spidey movie in 2002. Even though his screen time was a lot less than other supporting characters, still the audience loved him for his dominating and loud-mouthed performance.
The duo of Jameson’s iconic thick moustache and flattop hairstyle has a separate fanbase. Sometimes, we even watched him enjoying his cigar in his office. But his appearance looked a bit different in the post-credit scene of Far From Home (2019). It seems like director Jon Watts was not that interested in his looks. Still, his return was a delight to watch.
In his latest interview on a podcast, Simmons revealed that he will be playing a different version of Jameson with little less hair on his head. He will be the same blowhard as he was in his previous appearances.
J. Jonah Jameson is known for defaming Spider-Man in every chance he ever gets. But we also watched his emotional side when he wanted Spidey to protect his future daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Watson, in Spider-Man 2 (2004).
Spider-Man No Way Home will hit the theatres on December 17 this year. J.K. Simmons will be seen alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, and other talents.
