Jaat is performing better than expected. But what do we know about its OTT release? Let’s check out when the latest Sunny Deol action- and masala-packed entertainer will be available for streaming.
Helmed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat tells the story of Brigadier Baldev Pratap Singh, also known as “Jaat.” His train is halted in a village near Chirala due to an accident while he’s travelling from Chennai to Ayodhya. Stepping off for a meal, Jaat quickly finds himself in a minor dispute with Ranatunga, also known as Muthuvel Karikalan—a former deputy commander of the Jaffna Tiger Force—who uses corrupt police to control and intimidate the villagers.
Witnessing the villagers’ plight, Jaat intervenes, leading to a confrontation where he defeats Ranatunga/Muthuvel Karikalan and brings peace back to the village.
Jaat has received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have praised Sunny Deol’s return as the leading man, Randeep Hooda’s gripping performance as Ranatunga, and the film’s action and masala elements. While it doesn’t break new ground, its dialogue- and action-heavy theatrics, blended with Deol’s energetic and bombastic performance, get the job done.
As for its OTT release, we don’t yet know when Jaat will be available for streaming—but we do know the platform: Netflix.
A lot depends on how the movie performs in theatres. According to Sacnilk, the film has grossed nearly ₹19 crore in its first three days. While the response in smaller cities is mostly positive, the movie suffers from a lack of promotion and hype in metro areas and bigger cities.
This makes April 2025 a crucial month for Jaat. In any case, we should expect the movie to premiere on Netflix sometime in May or June 2025. Apart from Sunny Deol, the film also stars Randeep Hooda, Regina Cassandra, Saiyami Kher, Vineet Kumar Singh, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
