It’s time for global streamers to roll-out their competition shows and Amazon Prime Video clearly doesn’t want to be left behind in this regard either. And this time it’s James Bond who is getting a competitive make-over! According to Variety, a competition series based on the iconic British secret agent James Bond has been greenlit and is currently under works at Prime Video.
Titled as “007’s Road to a Million” the show is designed as an eight-part series. Bank-rolled by UK’s 72 Films, Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, and MGM Television, the series is an exclusive Prime Video programme that has been under planning since four years. Sources report a possible Filming schedule starting later this year for an exclusive Prime Video launch globally next year.
According to the streamer, the show follows contestants competing against each other in a global adventure to grab the ultimate prize money of £1million ($1.3 million). The series is to be filmed in many iconic locations that has featured throughout in Bond Films and will test the participants’ intelligence along with physical endurance. Besides physically challenging and draining tasks, contestants would also compete in two-member-teams solving riddles hidden in these iconic locations to proceed to next levels.
This project is however separate from the recently closed Amazon-MGM deal. Amazon Studios recently closed a $8.5 billion deal for MGM, the money-brain behind the iconic James Bond franchise. Dom Bird oversees the competition series on behalf of MGM. The idea sure sounds interesting and more like a Bond-esque twist to the Fear-Factor shows we grew up watching. Stay tuned for more updates.
