James Gunn Addresses Thor’s Rumoured Appearance In GOTG Vol 3

We watched Thor parting ways with the Guardians of the Galaxy in the initial moments of Thor: Love and Thunder. Oops! Spoiler Alert! Anyway, a large portion of the MCU fanbase wants to know whether the God of Thunder will make his godly presence in the third GOTG instalment or not. Rumours about his inclusion in James Gunn’s upcoming directional started surfacing on social media a while ago. However, the helmer has flushed these rumours down the gutter as Thor will not appear in the third Guardians movie.

This confirmation came after Gunn responded to a podcast clip from Barstool Sports, in which the hosts talked about Thor/Guardians arc. They seemed disappointed over Waititi picking up this arc for Thor: Love and Thunder instead of James Gunn for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Additionally, the hosts assumed that the forthcoming Guardians movie will give proper screentime to Thor.

However, Gunn corrected them and revealed he never intended to include Thor in Guardians 3 in the first place. “I appreciate the love but Thor was never going to be in Vol 3,” Gunn responded via Twitter.

It makes sense considering Gunn’s plans to depart from MCU after completing Guardians 3. The franchise commenced with the original Guardians and should end with them without the inclusion of outsiders. Also, the addition of Thor could have resulted in the Asgardian deity stealing all the limelight from the Guardians gang.

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will hit the theatres on May 5, 2023. In addition to this, the much-awaited GOTG Holiday Special will premiere in December this year on the Disney+ streaming service. Stay tuned for more updates.
