In a recent candid chat, the gifted filmmaker had confirmed the veracity of an earlier rumor regarding a secret DCEU project that he is working on, in addition to ‘The Suicide Squad’ spinoff ‘Peacemaker’ series starring John Cena.
The revelation happened when James Gunn posted about his relationship anniversary with his girlfriend Jennifer Holland. A fan asked him whether he is creating a new DCEU storyline or continuing Zack Snyder’s. And James Gunn’s reply was “Yes, I’m developing another DC project besides Peacemaker.” So, a Peacemaker sequel is out of the question here. This was the first time the filmmaker has himself confirmed about the secret DCEU project.
The next obvious question for DC fans was whether James Gunn’s in-the-works mystery DC project would be revealed during the forthcoming global virtual fan event namely DC Fandome. However, it was disclosed that the project was in an early development stage and wouldn’t be a part of the DC Fandome 2021 as it’s not ready yet for promotion.
Considering an ocean of source material under the ambit of DC extended universe, fans are busy speculating about what this James Gunn’s secret project could possibly be. Previously, a popular content discussion website had created a poll regarding James Gunn’s next mystery DC project. Amongst the possible contenders were Harley Quinn / Gotham City Sirens, Bloodsport, Ratcatcher, King Shark, Secret Six, and others. Out of these, the highest votes were secured by a project that might feature Harley Quinn / Gotham City Sirens. However, these are just speculations.
