Reshoots have become such a common practice in Hollywood, particularly when it comes to big-budget adaptations and superhero projects. However, ‘Superman’ director James Gunn will likely stay away from this trend for his upcoming DCU movie.
Gunn gave a candid response to ‘Superman’ reshoot rumours while answering fans’ questions on Threads. This is what he said:
“I don’t start shooting until I have a finished script my whole team is happy with,” Gunn said. “Hire actors and department heads I know can do their jobs. Surround myself with people who will challenge me and not just yes-sir, everything. Ask myself daily – are there any small imperfections in the script or what we’re shooting that might end up feeling like huge imperfections when we cut the film together?”
Gunn’s recent statement indicates that he and his team are satisfied with their overall final product as it stands, and they believe it’s ready for release without additional filming. This is indeed a positive sign for fans anticipating the movie. It seems like the director had a strong directorial vision right from the get-go that translated effectively into the final cut. The filmmaker has proved on numerous occasions that he possesses a
deep understanding and respect for the Superman character and mythology, ultimately making him the most suitable guy to helm the movie.
Gunn recently confirmed that he wrapped filming for his highly anticipated ‘Superman’ movie, which stars David Corenswet as the iconic DC superhero. Alongside Corenswet, we will see other talents such as Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, and more. Will Reeve, son of the late Superman actor Christopher Reeve, also has a small cameo in the movie. Stay tuned for more updates. It will come out in theatres worldwide on July 11, 2025.
