James Gunn Opens Up About Ezra Miller’s Future In DCU

DCU co-head, James Gunn, has given a blunt response about where he stands on Ezra Miller’s future in his upcoming superhero franchise.

The recent controversies have undoubtedly stained Miller’s career, including incidents ranging from trespassing to assaults.

Yes, The Flash’s events will lay the groundwork for DCU by rebooting the entire DCEU. Plus, Gunn and Peter Safran have released DCU’s first slate of projects. Amidst all this, Miller’s future looks uncertain.

Gunn talked to AP Entertainment while attending the world premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. This is what he replied upon being asked about Miller’s future:

“We’re just gonna have to wait and see, you know? I mean, we’ll see how things go, so, you know…”

In his interview with Gizmodo in January this year, the director gave a similar reply, and Safran pointed out that The Flash’s leading man was “fully committed to the recovery”.

Will Ezra Miller Return to the DCU after his controversies?

Ezra Miller’s future looks pretty much in the air, given Gunn and Safran’s plans to restructure the entire DC Universe and Warner Bros cutting ties with SnyderVerse a long time ago. Additionally, Gunn did not consider Henry Cavill for ‘Superman: Legacy’ as he wanted a younger actor to don the cape of Man of Steel in his forthcoming feature directional. Adding Miller’s controversies into this scenario puts his future with DC Universe on thin ice. Honestly, it would not surprise anyone if the Scarlet Speedster gets recast in a future Flash project.

Considering everything that has happened with DC Universe and Miller’s life in recent times, the duo of James Gunn and Peter Safran have some pretty big decisions to make to strengthen their DCU’s future. The Flash will hit theatres worldwide on June 16. Stay tuned for more updates.
