Maverick filmmaker James Gunn is riding high on the worldwide success of John Cena starrer ‘Peacemaker’ series, which has got a big thumbs-up from fans and critics globally, ever since it started streaming in many parts of the world last month (sadly, excluding India).
James Gunn is known to regularly interact with his fans and movie buffs on Twitter. In one such interaction, he played the ‘Ask me my top 3’ game, and fans were quick to ask about his favorite movies, TV series, and so on, with some really interesting replies by James Gunn (Twitter thread attached below).
For instance, one fan quizzed James Gunn about his top 3 comic book movies of all time to which James Gunn revealed that the Marvel films namely ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, Ryan Reynolds starrer ‘Deadpool’, and Robert Downey Jr’s ‘Iron Man’ were his favorites. Interestingly, James Gunn himself has directed two Marvel superhero films ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and its sequel.
James Gunn had also disclosed during the interaction that his all-time favorite movies (irrespective of any genre) were the 1973 neo-noir mystery crime film ‘The Long Goodbye’, science fiction romantic film ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’, and Sergio Leone’s cult Western flick ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’.
And as far as TV shows are concerned, James Gunn’s most liked series are the animated sci-fi show ‘Rick & Morty’, HBO’s crime drama series ‘The Wire’ and the comedy-drama show ‘Patriot’. While his top 3 zombie movies are the popular Korean flick ‘Train to Busan’, George A. Romero’s 1968 movie ‘Night of the Living Dead’, and the Japanese zombie comedy ‘One Cut of the Dead’.
After the widespread acclaim of ‘The Suicide Squad’ movie and ‘Peacemaker’ series, James Gunn’s forthcoming directorial films include two more Marvel projects namely the television special ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special´ and the third installment of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films.
