Jamie Foxx has always portrayed a lot of range in his performances and has been roped in to play the great decorated boxer, Mike Tyson. The limited series based on the boxer’s life is titled ‘Tyson’. ‘Tyson’ hasn’t been bagged by any streaming service as of now but with the kind of team that is part of it, the suitors will come thick and fast.
‘Tyson’ is set to be directed by Antoine Fuqua. Antoine Fuqua and Martin Scorsese will both be executive producers for this series. Mike Tyson became a boxing sensation when he became the youngest heavyweight champion at the age of 20 in 1986. He is considered one of the greatest boxers in history but Mike Tyson has also been quite open about his struggles outside the ring. He has not shied away from speaking up on his problems with mental health and substance abuse.
‘Tyson’ will take us on a journey that covers the life of the decorated boxer right from his birth. He was also convicted of rape and served a term of less than 3 years in prison for it. His wife had also levelled serious accusations on him regarding mental and physical abuse.
Mike Tyson made a comeback of sorts with cameos in films like ‘The hangover’ and recently even performed on Broadway. He even fought an eight-round exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr which served as the launch of the Legends Only League.
Hulu had announced a project that would shed light on the boxer’s controversial career and life but Mike Tyson responded by stating that he wasn’t consulted and wasn’t too happy about it either.
