‘Monster’, the highly-appreciated Japanese movie from 2023, will soon be out in theaters in the Indian subcontinent. Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, who is known for his great works such as Brokers and Shoplifters, ‘Monster’ is set for a theatrical release on February 09, 2024 in India.
Premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2023, and released on June 2, 2023 in Japan, the film received widespread praise for its unique storytelling and plot. The movie also casts Sakura And, Soya Kurokawa and Eita Nagayama in major roles. It is official that Gaga corporation has the distribution rights for the rest of Asia (apart from Japan) and Goodfellas will handle international sales excluding Asia.
The film portrays the complexities of a troubled boy (Soya Kurokawa) in his pre-teen era and the struggles his mother goes through while coping up with his son’s behavior. Critics all around the world have appreciated the performances of the main cast, Kore-eda’s storytelling, and the film’s captivating cinematography. The musical score was composed by late Ryuichi Sakamoto, just like what the director wished for a long time. For the unknown, Sakamoto was battling cancer while composing the soundtrack for the movie.
Despite the highly awaited digital release, fans have been waiting for the theatrical screening of “Monster,” especially in India. As “Monster” arrives in theaters, the movie will perfectly be an exploration of human behavior and an explanation for the question: “Who’s the monster?”
