In case you guys haven’t heard already, Jayasurya is going to be part of an upcoming theatrical release, ‘Eesho‘. This movie was supposed to head towards an OTT platform, according to some reports, due to a naming controversy that popped up a few months back. But with theatres having finally opened and ‘Kurup’ proving that Malayalam movies can be successful, we expect this film to get a theatrical release soon. However, with no official announcement yet and with a third of the month having already been completed, ‘Eesho’ is running out of time for a 2021 release.
The aforementioned controversy was one of the main reasons for the delay in the film’s release/announcement/marketing. Eesho is also the Malayalam word used to call Jesus and the film title caused widespread campaigns both on social media and across the state of Kerala. A case was filed against the filmmakers over the film title, but the Kerala HC eventually dismissed the plea. ‘Eesho’ received a clean U certificate from the censor board a couple of weeks back. The CBFC had no problems with the movie and there were no cuts or editions needed to be done to get the certification.
Yet, there still has been no official announcement regarding the release of the film. We do not what is happening behind the scenes of the movie, so all we can do is wait and see. But even if the film drops a teaser or trailer in a few days or so, we expect the film to only release by next month (AKA in 2022).
