Jennifer Garner To Return As Elektra In ‘Deadpool 3’

The highly anticipated MCU superhero movie ‘Deadpool 3’ is slated to release in theatres in May 2024. As you all know, the sequel features Ryan Reynolds as the titular mercenary Wade Wilson aka Deadpool and Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as the massively popular character Wolverine / Logan.

In an exciting development, ‘Deadpool 3’ has now roped in Jennifer Garner in the role of the highly skilled sai-wielding assassin Elektra. The 51-year-old actress had played the role of Elektra in the 2003 superhero movie ‘Daredevil’ starring Ben Affleck as the titular protagonist. Two years later, she featured as a lead in her own solo superhero movie titled ‘Elektra’. Although both these films didn’t do very well at the box-office, the former gained a fan base over the years.

The inclusion of Jennifer Garner as Elektra is another instance after Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine which will feature older non-MCU Marvel characters in an MCU movie. In this case, ‘Deadpool 3’. Now, it would be super interesting to see whether Ben Affleck too reprises his role as Daredevil in ‘Deadpool 3’.

Jennifer Garner has previously starred in several films and series such as ‘Pearl Harbor’, ‘Catch Me If You Can’, ‘The Kingdom’, ‘Juno’, and most recently in the Apple TV+ thriller miniseries ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’.

Coming back to ‘Deadpool 3’, the film is being directed by Shawn Levy, whose directorial filmography consists of movies like ‘The Pink Panther’, ‘Night at the Museum’, ‘Real Steel’, and ‘Free Guy’, to name a few. Recently, the Canadian filmmaker also directed Ryan Reynolds and Jennifer Garner in last year’s Netflix sci-fi action-comedy film ‘The Adam Project’.
