Netflix is gearing up for a new sci-fi thriller ‘Atlas’ with Jennifer Lopez not only set to star in but also produce it. The film is part of the recent first look deal signed between Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Netflix.
‘Atlas’ will be directed by Brad Peyton (‘Rampage’) and is being written by Aaron Eli Coleite, who is working on the original script from Leo Sardarian. The film’s story is about a woman fighting for humanity against an AI soldier who has determined the only way to end war is to end humans.
‘Atlas’ will be produced by Job Harold and Tony Tunnell for Safehouse Pictures, Peyton and Jeff Fierson for ASAP Entertainment, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina and Lopez for Nuyorican Productions. Matt Schwartz will co-produce the Netflix film while Courtney Baxter will serve as its executive producer.
‘Atlas’ is the third project announced under the creative partnership between Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Netflix. As per the deal, Lopez alongside Goldsmith-Thomas and Medina will produce a slew of films, television series, scripted and unscripted content, with focus on works from a diverse range of female actors, writers and filmmakers. The first two Netflix projects featuring Lopez are – Niki Carpo’s The Mother’ and ‘The Cipher’ based on Isabella Maldonado’s novel.
Further details about the cast, crew and release date of Jennifer Lopez starrer sci-fi thriller ‘Atlas’ are yet to be announced by Netflix.
