Alright! Here we go again! Krysten Ritter, best known for playing Jessica Jones in the MCU, is making her grand return to the superhero franchise with Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Ritter appeared as JJ in the solo Netflix series, which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2019.
Ritter’s addition to Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 isn’t surprising, as many fans believed the character would eventually return to the MCU. And Jones couldn’t have come back at a better time. Considering how the first season ended, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock needs all the help he can get to take down Wilson Fisk and his entire corrupt, dangerous army to save New York City.
Ritter’s confirmed return also suggests that Marvel Studios intends to incorporate more elements from the original Marvel Television era into the MCU’s future. Her addition to the Disney+ series could also pave the way for the return of the remaining Defenders—Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist. Season 2 might mark the reunion of all four Defenders following the notable The Defenders series, which came out in 2017.
We won’t be seeing more of Jessica Jones in Phase Five, as the current phase is set to conclude with the Ironheart Disney+ series. But the character is likely to be one of the key highlights of MCU’s Phase Six, especially with Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 on the horizon.
Now that Marvel Studios has brought Krysten Ritter back into the MCU, watching Jessica Jones team up with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil again will be fantastic, especially since it’s been a while since they shared the screen in The Defenders Season 1.
If more characters from the Marvel-Netflix era are confirmed for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, the upcoming season will be a real treat for fans who’ve followed these characters since 2015. As filming progresses, hopefully, we’ll get more news about other familiar faces who might appear. Stay tuned for more updates.
