Let’s begin by saying that if you are a fan of a comic book film and series, most of the shows are instantly a guilty pleasure watch unless they turn out to be incredulously bad like the Iron Fist.
With that in mind, Jessica Jones is definitely not in the Iron Fist zone, and that alone makes it a compulsive watch for comic book geeks. For others, who have seen the first two season, the third one is also a good watch at the same level.
Within the Jessica Jones universe, though, the first season was by far the best with a sensational villainous turn of David Tennant as Kilgrave. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say he would be among the top 3 Marvel villains considering the films and series that have come out so far. Kilgrave was such a killer act.
The third season though is a more in the line of the second one which had its thrilling moments but never delivered a solid punch. The opening takes time to get going, but it is sure to hook sooner rather than later. Krysten Ritter in the titular role and Rachael Taylor as Trish Walkers keep one hooked with their acts and arcs. The Jeri Hogarth subplot doesn’t seem exciting but is once again set up neatly.
Overall, the third season off to a decent start and looks like to deliver a decent outing, at the least. It, however, is the last association of Marvel and Netflix as the two have separated. One will surely miss the various superhero series on this platform, that is for sure.
