‘Jigra’ teaser came out a couple of days ago and left the audience thrilled with its unique, gripping style and today the trailer of ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ is here and it leaves you in splits. Both these films are coming out this Dussehra and look promising in their own ways.
Let’s discuss ‘Jigra’ first. Directed by Vasan Bala, who is known for his films like ‘Peddlers’, ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota’ and ‘Monica, O My Darling’, ‘Jigra’ is an action thriller drama starring Alia Bhatt as a sister who goes all out to protect his imprisoned brother, played by Vedang Raina.
‘Jigra’s’ teaser trailer was really impressive and the use of the old Hindi song ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ was done masterfully. The visuals were enthralling and despite being decently long, the editing was so deft that it did not give away much and in fact managed to intrigue the viewers.
On the other hand we have family comedy drama ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ set in the 90s where Rajkumar Rao and Triptii Dimri are a newly wed couple who record their first night. It is all fun and romantic until the CD player alongwith the CD that had the recording gets stolen. What follows is a sequence of mishaps that happen during its search.
The trailer is fun to watch with many punch lines landing well, the ensemble cast is great and watching Mallika Sherawat is a pleasant surprise. The trailer has that signature Raaj Shaandilyaa style of chaotic comedy that we have seen before in his films like ‘Dream Girl’ and ‘Dream Girl 2’.
While ‘Jigra’ has Alia Bhatt’s star power, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ stars Rajkumar Rao and Triptii Dimri who are coming fresh from their recent box office success like ‘Srikanth’, and ‘Stree 2’; and ‘Animal’ and ‘Bad Newz’ respectively.
Both the films have the potential to be big hits at the box office as both target the family audience but in their own different ways. One is an intense, emotional action drama, the other is a fun light hearted comedy. These genres have their respective fan bases and to predict which one will come out victorious will be difficult. Given the holiday slot, families might want to go for comedy drama ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ but one cannot ignore Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’ which definitely looks like a mass puller. So which one is it gonna be for you this Dussehra (October 11)?
