The trailer was pretty engrossing and ever since viewers have been excited for Fardeen Khan and Riteish Deshmukh starrer ‘Visfot’s’ premiere on Jio Cinema. Well the wait has now been curtailed and to everyone’s surprise the film is already streaming on the platform two days prior to the previously declared 6th September, 2024.
This is kind of something similar, though not in entirety, to what SonyLIV does with most of its content by dropping them a day prior to the set premiere date. Just that this time it’s two days before the schedule and the platform is Jio Cinema. And as we all know, the most possible reason for this is to prevent leaks.
This isn’t the first time though for Jio Cinema to do something like this. Earlier in 2021 when theatrical releases were non-existent, Kriti Sanon’s ‘Mimi’ was supposed to go direct-to-digital on Jio Cinema and Netflix simultaneously, but the former messed up big time and the film had to be launched four days prior to the pre-decided date on both the platforms! It was quite an embarrassing setback for Netflix which is quite punctual and has watertight security for its content.
Such incidents are a reflection of a major organisational and administrative glitch in Jio that should be looked into with utmost sincerity. If leaks are so easy, then there’s something seriously wrong with its system that needs immediate reform and restructuring.
