JioCinema has announced a massive slate of Marathi movies to stream on the platform. The platform is taking huge steps in entering the mainstream OTT business and Jyoti Deshpande, the president of RIL media and content business is constantly making efforts to make JioCinema a tough competition for platforms like Disney+Hotstar or Netflix.
The Marathi movies announced by the platform are listed below.
Ghe Double: An hilarious adaptation of ‘Comedy Of Errors’, Ghe Double stars actors like Bhau Kadam, Bhushan Patil and Bharat Ganeshpure.
Unaad: Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Unaad is a tale of friendship and youth and represents the Koli community. The film stars actors like Abhishek Bharate, Devika Daftardar and Ashutosh Gaikwad.
Baipan Bhari Deva: Directed by Kedar Shinde, the film tells the story of six estranged sisters. It stars Rohini Hattangadi, Vandana Gupte, Sukanya Kulkarni and other actors and had its initial release in January this year.
4 Blind Men: 4 Blind Men is directed by Ankush Chaudhari and stars Sankarshan Karhade, Kshitish Date and Shubhankar Tawde in lead roles. It tells the story of 4 blind men and an elephant.
1234: 1234 had its theatrical release I. 2p16 and was directed by Milind Zumber Kavde. It was India’s First Film entirely Shot on ARRI Shift & Tilt Lenses.
Me Vasantrao: Me Vasantrao is a critically acclaimed filmmaker that had its theatrical release last year. It was directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari and tells the story of classical musician Vasantrao Deshpande.
Godavari: Godavari is directed by Nikhil Mahajan and was released in 2021. It stars actors like Neena Kulkarni, Jitendra Joshi and Vikram Gokhale. It is drama that tells the story of a family coping with death.
Kaalsutra: The new web series ‘Kaalsutra – Pratham Dwaar Mrityudata’ stars the popular Marathi actor Subodh Bhave and it is adapted from a novel by Saleel Desai.
Aga Aai Aho Aai: The family drama with female leads is a JioCinema original.
Jakkal: ‘Jakkal’ is a JioCinema original series that will tell the story of Joshi-Abhayankar murders, which included 10 serial killings by Rajendra Jakkal, Dilip Sutar, Shantaram Kanhoji Jagtap and Munawar Harun Shah. It will be an interesting crime thriller.
Manapman: The ambitious project ‘Manapman’ stars Subodh Bharve in the lead role and is a purely musical drama.
Kirr Kata Kirr: It will be a horror comedy drama from Priyadarshan Jadhav and is a very anticipated project.
Khashaba: ‘Khashaba’ will be directed by Nagraj Manjule, one of the most famous directors of the industry and will be telling the story of India’s First Olympic medal winner Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav.
These are the films and series that the platform announced, some of them are originals and some had theatrical releases previously. The film has announced a huge slate for Hindi and Bengali films as well.
