Amazon Prime Video has been nabbing the streaming rights of multiple Malayalam films for direct-to-OTT streaming and so far, all films have had good reviews – ranging from reasonably well done to must-watch feature films. Movies such as ‘Drishyam 2’, ‘Joji’, ‘Sara’s’ and ‘Malik’ are proof of that. Now, another OTT platform, a regional streaming platform by the name of JioCinema, has got the streaming rights of an upcoming Malayalam film, ‘Pidikittapulli’ and the OTT is planning on premiering the movie directly for streaming.
There has been no official confirmation just yet, but since the director of this upcoming Malayalam crime comedy film, Jishnu Sreekandan, had already announced the production company’s interest in releasing the movie directly for OTT – these reports are highly likely to be true. And if it is so, then the movie should release on JioCinema real soon.
And the reason for the early release is that movie was supposed to release by 2019. Due to post-production issues and the Covid-19 pandemic, the movie has been collecting dust for the past two years. There hasn’t been any promotional video released regarding the movie so far, which means that the first teaser/ trailer for this movie will also be its official direct-to-OTT announcement.
‘Pidikittapulli‘ will be released under the banner of Sri Gokulam Movies. Jishnu Sreekandan, the film director is helming his maiden Mollywood feature film. The film stars Sunny Wayne, Ahaana Krishnakumar, Lalu Alex and Baiju. Sumesh V Robin is the screenwriter while Ajoy Samuel is the cinematographer. The music for the movie will be composed by PS Jayahari. The lyricists are Vinay Sasikumar and Manu Manjith.
