Free services, so you must throw away all your expectations—it’s not us who are saying this, but this might be the strategy of JioCinema. At least, this has been the case for them for years now. Though JioCinema managed to grab the attention of the masses, it is also causing some major menace among the fans.
See, their freebie strategy is definitely a golden ticket, especially if you consider the Indian masses who are concerned about pricing, but it comes with its own set of problems.
Firstly, the advertisement issues. Shockingly, the paid users are haunted by this too. Even getting the paid subscription doesn’t guarantee an ad-free service, but that will be a discussion for another time.
JioCinema makes a mockery of the users with their streaming quality as well, especially in their live streaming forte. Name any sporting event, and you might find something that was messed up by JioCinema.
Despite stable internet connection, viewers are experiencing major buffering while streaming, which is ruining the viewing experience. And it’s not the end of the problems, as the streaming quality is practically abysmal.
Even when viewers opt for high-resolution streaming, they are getting choppy and pixelated quality, which is practically a mockery from JioCinema’s side. And it doesn’t matter if you are a paid user or taking advantage of the freebie, JioCinema doesn’t discriminate.
And this isn’t just a problem on mobile devices; similar issues are happening in the TV app as well. JioCinema is even removing the 4K option from certain TVs, which is causing more problems.
This is forcing viewers to look for other options; some are even comparing it to the heyday of Star Sports, and some are just pirating IPL through other websites, which shows how bad the situation really is.
But there are a couple of advertisements hovering over the JioCinema, making some promises that they are bringing something on 25th April, will it change the scenerio all together? Possibly not, but we shall wait and watch.
