According to a recent report by Nielsen, the global expert in audience measurement, JioHotstar had the most-watched content on mobile devices in India for the month of March 2025. That’s across movies, original web series, and even popular TV shows.
Leading the movie charts was Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, followed by other JioHotstar hits like Premalu, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. It didn’t stop at films. In original web series too, JioHotstar made its mark with Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar among the top. And when it comes to TV shows and reality content, people kept tuning in to Anupamaa, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and MTV Roadies, all available on JioHotstar.
Now, here’s why this matters. Nielsen is one of the most trusted names in the world when it comes to tracking what people are actually watching. They don’t just guess. Nielsen measures real viewer behavior across different platforms and devices. If Nielsen says something’s at the top, it means millions are really watching it.
The reason JioHotstar is doing so well is simple. It brings together the best of both worlds. TV and streaming. With a huge subscriber base and all kinds of content in one place, it’s no surprise that more people are watching than ever before.
Moreover, it also solidifies the claim of the immense growth in the number of subscribers on the platform. The platform is boasting around 280 million subscribers and that is huge. Even if half of that claim is true then these numbers revealed by Nielsen do not sound very surprising.
