DCU is expanding every day, and given James Gunn’s style of working, the more absurd the character, the better he knows how to make use of it. By this logic, the resident shapeshifter of the DC universe, Plastic Man, seems like the obvious choice for the DCU. And it seems like there is a perfect pick for the casting. None other than John Mulaney. But the question is, will he?
Plastic Man is nothing like his Marvel counterpart, Mister Fantastic. He is more of a superhero-type character, with humor being the primary characteristic, but he is also one of the strongest when it comes to determination. And Mulaney has already voiced for spider-ham into the spiderverse. So this should be the perfect role for him to dive into the superhero genre.
To this, Mulaney made his own remark, emphasizing that the main motive for him to take up the role of plastic man in the future would be money. And he is not wong. The movies do pay well. In the last two decades, the fees of actors who are in superhero movies have skyrocketed. The actor, as of now, will be getting busy for his return to the Broadway.
And as of now, the casting for plastic man is a bit far off in the future. As of now, the holy trinity of DC itself isn’t complete. With only Superman being cast and the search for Batman still going on.
