Actor Bill Skarsgård believes that his character in Keanu Reeves’ upcoming action flick, John Wick: Chapter 4, stands apart from previous villains.
Skarsgård gained universal acclaim for his performance as Pennywise the Dancing Clown in IT (2017), helmed by The Flash director Andy Muschietti. Now, fans will see him portraying the character of a vicious and highly ambitious member of the High Table, Marquis de Gramont.
In his recent talk with Total Film, Skarsgård spilled some beans about his character, “The Marquis is a young man of unknown origin who has quickly climbed the ladder within the High Table doing god knows what.”
The thing that makes Marquis so intriguing is that he doesn’t possess any fighting skills. But he does have the brain to do what’s best for him. And that’s exactly what the fans will see him doing in John Wick 4. His ability to twist the High Table’s rules will affect John’s life in ways Keanu Reeves’ character never imagined. “I always saw him as someone from the gutter that now savours the glittery suits he’s wearing,” Skarsgård added.
Parabellum’s climax showed John teaming up with Bowery King (Lawrence Fishburne) to destroy the High Table for good. Taking down the High Table is the only way the former can earn his freedom. But his actions have made Marquis’ life difficult as his position at the High Table is at risk. And he will utilise every inch of his clever brain to stop John at any cost.
Marquis will reportedly offer John a way out in the upcoming Chapter 4. But he has other plans in his mind. He wants to do what the previous villains failed to do: finish the story of Baba Yaga once and for all. That’s why he may emerge as the best villain of the entire franchise.
Apart from Keanu Reeves and Bill Skarsgård, Chad Stahelski’s John Wick 4 treasures Donnie Yen, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, and Ian McShane. It will release in theatres worldwide on March 24. Stay tuned for more updates.
