Joseph Gordon-Levitt (‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’, ‘Looper’) and Taylour Paige (‘Zola’, ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’) have joined the cast of Netflix’s ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley’, the much awaited sequel to the classic comedy franchise.
They will star alongside Eddie Murphy in the film that is being directed by Mark Molloy. Will Beall (‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’, ‘Aquaman’, ‘Gangster Squad’) serves as the writer for Netflix’s ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley’.
‘Beverly Hills Cop’ is a superhit buddy cop action comedy film franchise that began in 1984 wherein Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, a street smart cop from Detroit, visits Beverly Hills to solve his best friend’s murder mystery. The film was followed by two sequels, one in 1987 and the other in 1994.
Netflix acquired the franchise in 2019 and while the logline for the latest sequel ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley’ is under wraps, it will most likely follow the adventures of Foley in a new era.
Murphy is also producing ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley’ alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman for Jerry Bruckheimer Films. The film is co-produced by Melissa Reid for Jerry Bruckheimer Films with Charisse Hewitt-Webster and Ray Angelic serving as executive producers. ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley’ is now in production and will premiere soon on Netflix.
